Paris Hilton Sticks Up for the Jonas Brothers

Paris Hilton Sticks Up for the Jonas Brothers

Sunday night, Britain’s own comedian Russell Brand hosted MTV’s Video Music Awards. Brand had formally worked as a VJ for MTV, but was fired after coming to work dressed as Osama Bin Laden.

Brand, who had already been beating on touchy subjects such as politics, soon began on the Jonas Brothers. Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas, whose concerts have sold out in minutes, wear promise rings as a commitment to themselves to remain virgins until marriage. And Brand used the topic as the source for many of his jokes.

Paris Hilton, who attended and has a new show coming “BFF,” came forward about the act. She stated, “I think that they’re all really good kids and that they’re definitely our next generation of kids and they’re all really good so I think that’s awesome.”

Commenting on the rings further, Miss Hilton said, “I don’t pick on them. That’s something cool for a kid to keep, so don’t pick on them for that.”

Nonetheless, she still remains a loyal fan of Brand after his remarks, going on to say, “I think he was really good. He was funny. I’ve met him before in London. He’s very nice and he did and incredible job tonight. It’s cool to have a British accent at the awards.”

Also of note, Miss Hilton was crossing her fingers for her past friend Britney Spears, and was even able to award her a Moonman. When the two saw each other, Hilton said, “I love you, I miss you, so good to see you.”

Continuing on about Britney, Paris added, “She looked beautiful. I’m so happy for her. She definitely deserves it.”

Christmas came early this year as the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards had not one but two amazing performances by Rihanna last night.

The “Umbrella” singer performed the first song of the night, leading off with a fantastic rendition of her hit “Disturbia,” accompanied by a team of backup dancers.

Then, later in the night she joined T.I. for a lengthy medley including “It’s Your Life” in which traded in her S&M-inspired “Disturbia” costume for a rock and roll chick getup including a cropped black leather jacket and black jeans with black leather boots.

According to press, Rihanna’s boyfriend Chris Brown kept a close eye on her during her rehearsal with T I the day before the VMAs, accompanying her to the venue and sticking around for the duration of practice.

It was a big night for Britney Spears at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, as she got to make up for her less-than-stellar performance last year with a big win.

Though she’s been nominated multiple times throughout her tenure as an American pop music princess, Brit never got to take home a moon man - until tonight.

The “Gimme More” songstress garnered the trophy for Best Female Artist for her video for “Piece of Me,” and received a warm congratulations from her manager/date Larry Rudolph.

Upon accepting the award, Spears said: "I'm speechless, oh my goodness, thank you... this is an honor. I first want to thank God first and foremost for just blessing me like this.. um...my beautiful family, my two beautiful boys for inspiring me everyday and my fans... this if for you. Thank you so much."

Later on in the evening, Britney continued on with her winning ways - picking up two more awards for Best Pop Video and the much-coveted Video of the Year trophies.
